Implants are a great treatment option to replace missing teeth. Implants do not require any alteration of adjacent teeth and remain permanently attached to the bone. They also look and feel similar to a natural tooth. Implants are very durable and can last a lifetime with proper oral care. In addition, implants are very comfortable and make eating and speaking feel natural.
Placing an implant requires careful planning and coordination with an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon is responsible for placing the implant into the bone. The implant is a cylindrical or tapered post made of titanium. Once the implant is placed, it is left to heal for about 3-4 months. Following this, Dr. Ken takes an impression of the teeth in order to create the crown (artificial tooth) that will be placed on the abutment. The impression is then sent to the lab, which fabricates the new crown. Once the crown has arrived, Dr. Ken will attach it to the implant and complete a filling over the crown.
